Part 3: Adding competitors
Peec AI lets you monitor competitors using the same visibility metrics, so you can see who AI is promoting alongside (or instead of) you.
Two ways to add competitors
Go to Settings in the sidebar, then select Brands under Project settings.
1. Use suggested brands
We automatically flag brands that appear often in your prompt responses. You'll find them under Suggested Brands on the right of the Brands page. Each suggestion shows how many times that brand has been mentioned:
- Track: Click to add them as a competitor.
- Reject: Click to dismiss them.
2. Add competitors manually
Click the Add Brand button in the top-right to open the form:
- Display Name: How the brand appears in your dashboard. This is not used to count mentions.
- Tracked Name: The name used to identify and count the brand's mentions in AI responses.
- Domain: Add their main website domain (used to detect source citations).
- Regular Expression (optional): For more advanced pattern matching.
- Click Create to save.
Getting the tracked name right
Use the shortest unique brand name as the Tracked Name, not variations like:
- hubspot.com
- HubSpot UK
- HubSpot Marketing Hub
Use HubSpot instead.
We track the exact name you enter, so keep it simple and consistent. If AI models use other spellings, add them as Aliases on the brand's detail page.
Why you should track competitors
Competitive tracking shows you:
- Who appears alongside you in AI responses
- How often they're mentioned compared to your brand
- Which prompts they dominate (and where you have opportunities)
Start with 3-4 direct competitors. You can always add more later as you see patterns in who AI platforms mention.
Other ways to add competitors
You can also ask the Peec agent in the app, for example "Add HubSpot and Salesforce as competitors", or connect an AI assistant through the Peec MCP. If you want to automate it, the Peec API supports this too.
