People spell my brand name differently — can I add alternative spellings?

Sometimes there's more than one way to spell a brand name. You might need to track all of the variations to get a realistic visibility score. We generally recommend setting up the shortest unique version your brand is known for, but this might not be enough in some examples (think “Abercrombie & Fitch” vs. “A&F”). In more extreme cases, your brand name might even be part of the dictionary (a so-called “dictionary brand”), like Apple.

We have solutions for both scenarios:

  • Alias feature: You can add as many brand name variations as you like. These are not case-sensitive and will be sufficient in ~95% of scenarios.

  • RegEx feature: If aliases don't catch all of the variations, you can set up very specific rules about what counts as a brand mention and what doesn't. You might specify capitalization requirements, position within a sentence, or words that must appear before or after your brand name.

Read more about adding aliases and using the RegEx feature in our documentation.
