Start by asking the question “What do I want my brand to be found for?” or “What is my brand known for?”
Use our prompt suggestions to get started quickly. We generate personalized prompt suggestions based on your website and topics you’ve set up. This gives you a solid foundation that covers the most important areas for your brand, and we're continuously improving these suggestions to make setup even easier.
Once you have a first set of prompts, group them with tags, for example in the following categories:
Journey stages: Most brands only track "best [category]" prompts, but that misses people earlier in their research. Cover awareness stage (when people are still figuring out if they need your product category), consideration stage (when they're comparing options), and purchase stage (when they're ready to buy).
Customer context: Different buyer personas ask different questions. A small business owner researches differently than an enterprise buyer. Track prompts that reflect how your specific audiences think and what they care about.
Geographic variations: If you operate in multiple locations, the same prompt might get different results in different regions.
Having a topic and tag setup will give you inspiration for additional prompts.
Don't worry about exact phrasing. Unlike traditional keywords in SEO, AI models are great at understanding intent, so focus on the underlying question rather than getting every word exactly right.
Other methods to find great prompts
You can also build prompts using these methods:
Use your existing SEO data: Look at your Google Search Console keywords. Many of those reflect real user questions that you can turn into prompts. Think about how you'd ask the same question in a conversation with ChatGPT. For example, in Google you might search "iPhone 16 review," while in ChatGPT, you'd probably ask "Is the iPhone 16 worth buying?"
Talk to your sales, success and support teams: They are in close communication to your actual customers and know commonly-asked questions throughout the stages of the buying journey (awareness, consideration, decision) and during the rest of their customer journey. You can turn them into prompts.
Follow the online discussion around your industry or brand: Check online forums and user-generated content (UGC) sites, such as Reddit. Browse common subreddits around topics related to your industry. It'll give you an idea of what people are asking the community before, during, or after making their purchase decisions. If they ask the community, they might ask LLMs the same questions
[Pro tip] Set up a “How did you find us?” survey on your website: Next to answers like Google, podcasts, or word of mouth, add “AI/ChatGPT/…” as an option. You can even ask for the exact prompt they entered as a follow-up question. Doing this might not lead to a high number of replies, but if someone actually finds you from an AI reply, this is the closest to real prompting data you can get.
