Part 1: Understanding prompts

Prompts are the questions you want to be found for in AI search. We run them across AI platforms like ChatGPT and Perplexity once every 24 hours to see how models respond and who they mention.

Examples:

  • "What's the best project management tool for creative agencies?"

  • "How do I improve email open rates for B2B clients?"

  • "Which CRM is best for marketing agencies under 50 people?"

These are full questions, not keywords β€” that's how people talk to AI.

Finding the right prompts

Start here: Ask yourself, "What do I want my brand to be found for?" Use your Google Search Console keywords and rephrase them in a conversational tone.

Example:

  • Google keywords: "email marketing tools."

  • AI prompt: "What's the best email marketing platform for small businesses?"

Don't stress about exact phrasing β€” AI models are good at understanding search intent.

You can also use our Volume metric to understand which prompts have a higher likelihood for users to be searched and use that in your decision process to decide which prompts you might want to track.

You can read more about our Volume metric in our documentation

Ways to add prompts

  • Suggested tab: Accept or reject prompts we generate based on your website.

  • Add button: Manually add prompts (you can add them in bulk, one per line).

  • Bulk Add: Upload a CSV file with prompts, locations, and tags.

Only active prompts count toward your plan limit.

Important to know

Results take time: Data might vary day-to-day since AI models are inherently random. You'll need to look at patterns over time to get statistically meaningful insights.
