When AI platforms perform web searches to answer prompts, we capture and display those sources.
Where to find sources
Overview dashboard: See top sources across all your prompts.
Sources section: Deeper analysis of domains and URLs.
Prompt-level: Click individual prompts to see sources specific to that question.
Chat view: Click individual chats to see sources in the right sidebar.
Domains vs URLs
Switch between views in the Sources overview:
Domains: See which websites appear most (e.g., nytimes.com).
URLs: See which specific pages appear most (e.g., nytimes.com/article/123).
What "Source used" means
The "Used" percentage shows how often a domain contributed to AI answers in the last 7 days — even without a direct citation.
This reveals when your content shapes AI responses behind the scenes. Your content might inform the answer without being explicitly referenced, which still demonstrates authority and influence.
How to use data from sources
Sources show you which content AI platforms trust and reference. If you notice:
Competitor sites appearing frequently → Consider similar content topics.
Industry publications you're not in → Reach out for coverage or guest posts.
Your own URLs appearing → Double down on that content format.
High "Used" percentage for certain domains → These are the authoritative sources worth targeting.
Look for sources that appear consistently across multiple prompts over time — these are the high-authority sources worth targeting for your own content strategy.
